Why Hampi should be in your travel plans?
Being in Hampi during Diwali was the best decision I made in 2016. Everything seemed to be falling into place the moment my host Moin took me for trekking on the hills with all the other solo travelers.
The view was Breathtaking! Well by one means or another it felt like techno camping because there was no network signal most of the time which is what I wanted. In any case, it didn't bug me much since I chose not to tell my folks about the trip the whole time.
For quite a while we all quiet ourselves and let the sound of nature wash us over. Solitude from the world is what we shared with us.
We got back and filled our stomach with Chicken Kebabs, Kashmiri naans, malai korma and washed it down with Kingfisher. Then I came across knowing about a game Backgammon which had us in its grip within minutes. Soon, after a while, I moved on to bursting crackers.
Being far away from Mom and Dad on Diwali was not an awful Idea at all.
The following day I needed to trek again as I couldn't smother my Childish whims anymore. I asked everyone to accompany me and they readily agreed. We walked up the tallest slope where it wasn't only the view, I could hear the serenades from the temple!
Later on, we decided to explore the vast majority of the archeological legacy structures of Hampi. The Tuktuk driver charged us 800 rupees for 3 of us. Vithala, Virupaksha, Queen’s Bath and Lotus palace temple were our pit stops.
We got back by 4'o clock as Moin had made arrangements for coracle ride at one of his cryptic place. Getting to ride on coracle over Tungabhadra River for the first time was enthralling, to say the least. Afterward, we headed off to another hill which was quite secluded from the other ones. The very same day most of us had to leave. But even so, there is always time for a last beer with friends.
My next pit stop was Hyderabad where I thought of trying out my First couch surfing experience. My host was a teacher although she is quite an avid traveler. She told me so much about her travel endeavors. She even has two pets, Ginger and Romeo. They were so adorable and they made me feel right at home when my host had to go to work. Overall my couch surfing experience was worth it. I will be doing it again without any apprehensions.
It was time for me to fly back to home from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
Much thanks to you for all the love folks.
